My name is Zachary Williams, and in short, I am a guy who makes very homemade audio dramas.
My interests in the craft were most likely started by listening to numerous dramas (of varying lengths and usually in the Christian variety) in the family van/car at a very young age up until...well, my family's never really stopped. I suspect it was a bit of a change of pace from my mom's gospel CD's or simply something to keep my brother and I entertained on these rides (if not, I could always be trusted to have a great number of books with me.)
I suppose I was just intrigued by the thought of a story being told strictly though audio, but playing out the same way as a video or a movie with sound effects, music and people acting out the script...I just had to use only my imagination to engage with it.
I often acted out scenes from these dramas in my own time (and the books I read in the car and elsewhere) finding it amusing and somewhat cathartic, causing people who happened to notice what I was doing to say I had a knack for voices (not acting, mind you. I considered being a professional imitator, but you can only do one person/character so many times before it becomes annoying).
Good storytelling was also interesting to me, in particular, stories that made me laugh and think about its subject and what I may have previously thought of it...or stories that looked at a different yet unique perspective of a story oft told (Then again, I guess every storyteller has a bias, unless you just truly didn't care about the story you're telling). I
I was also interested in writing, and started to develop my own scripts and at the same time I began to record my own voice just for fun...I was twelve or so around that time. I started putting together my own dramas for family and friends to listen to, sometimes even getting recruited to create projects.
Today, I hope to continue creating audio dramas, producing the very stories I was interested in for a larger audience, giving a new experience that will entertain and hopefully cause you to sit back and think about things...which is something we do very rarely, don't we?
